Corona in the Winter

During the cold winter months in New Brunswick it’s hard to keep Corona from being annoying.  With her usual days at the park being forgotten (too icy and the water’s turned off) she just trembles with energy that she needs to release so paces the house to do so.

Never a fan of being stalked, I can’t stand when I have to watch where I stand or turn in case in fear of stepping on her but she can’t be to blame.  She loves the winter and with her jacket and booties on she would stay out there until my hands froze but I can’t let it go that long.  Wearing proper winter attire I still can’t stand the brisk winds and chilled toes so I bring her inside before all of her energy has dissipated.

I have recently found some websites that contain some suggestions of games which I will have to try out once Corona returns from running errands with Paul.

http://www.agilitybits.co.uk/games/indoor/indoor.html is filled with activities that can be done indoors and some you can even try outdoors when it warms up.  I also found www.DoctorDog.com to be quite useful in suggesting doggie pushups.  You simply have your dog maneuver from a sitting position to laying down and repeat giving the dog the chance to burn some stagnant energy and doesn’t require any room.

I also invite all of you to leave a comment if you have any suggestions or tips on how to deal with a dog in the city during winter.  I’m sure you have all done it before and have many creative ideas to share.

Although she doesn’t realize it yet these little booties help her in the snow (and boys, do we have a lot of snow).   Instead of hopping on three legs in attempts to get on just two, Corona will have some protection against the cold and hard aspects of winter.

It’s quite the adventure when we finally do get outside so I’ll post some videos soon.
