Help Me Master!

During swimming lessons this dog needed his master at paws reach. She frequently tried to scramble up her masters lefts for safety but couldn’t quite get to where she wanted to go.

Dropping back into the depths (which were to our knees) our dog raced back to solid ground. Corona definitely didn’t like the idea of seaweed reaching between her claws.

Sun Drenched Dogo

A day at the beach in the sun may not be all fun and games without the proper protection. Sunscreen for dogs is always a good idea but with fair haired breeds like a Dogo Argentino it should be considered a necessity.

There are sunscreens available specifically for dogs but some human brands can be used as well. Do keep in mind that a dog tends to lick in places that a person regularly avoids. When a dog does wear sunscreen, although it cannot be completely avoided, licking should be strongly discouraged.

Dogo Walks In Water

Although not a miraculous event out dog walking in water felt like a blessed one. Having had to almost drag her through a hot week the water was a relief to all of us.

The healing powers of the salt water also helped out dog’s skin problems which cleared up within a few days after the event.

Our dog was a bit timid of the idea of swimming but loved the idea of running and splashing.

Dogo Looks Beneath Water

No one can confirm what a dog can see or not although a lot of researchers try. There are rumours that dogs cannot see something play on a television and yet our Dogo Argentino watches intently as an animal runs by, with the volume turned off.

So when we took our dog to the beach and she stared intently at the water we were not surprised. We were not able to determine if she was watching the seaweed below, her reflection, or the ripples from the waves.

Rearview Dogo

From the beginning we took our dog on as many car rides as possible to ensure her comfort. This allows us to transport our dog to the vet with very little worry. We recommend that every dog owner do this to rid their dog of any apprehensions of driving.

At the mention of going for a drive now our Dogo Argentino’s unclipped ears perk and her head tilts – she understands! Often we take her to a beach or to her grandparents and she seems to love the idea.
