They Called Her Dipstick

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

When we first met our new puppy we sat and discussed her with the dog “breeders” and learned plenty of interesting information including her temporary name – Dipstick. They thought it a clever name due to the lone black patch of fur on her tail. That was the first thing to go.

We researched the name for our dog before meeting her but thought that any name but Dipstick would be more appropriate. We fell in love with the name Corona just as quickly as we fell in love the dog, which refers to a white aura around a planet. Despite the black patch on her tail, which we refer to as the ‘planet’, she was the perfect fit.

Dogo Argentino’s Don’t Shed!

Saturday, September 24th, 2005

One of the deciding factors for us choosing the Dogo Argentino breed was that the beautiful dog doesn’t shed! It’s one of the most remarkable characteristics of this dog, which is not common among breeds.

Not many candid shots of a dog turn out as good as this one did of our dog so we have to show it off. This pretty girl just sat down after a long day and looked straight into the camera, giving us this perfect close up.

We had originally bought our dog a collar but her neck seemed to get worse for wear with it and it’s better for a walk with (more…)

Dog Jog

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

Our local SPCA has been organizing a day of events for dogs and dog owners alike and naming it the Dog Jog. We attended last year and our dog loved it, and slept the full week following, and it was to support a great cause (all proceeds go to the SPCA) so everybody won!

There were lots of dogs there of all shapes, sizes and breeds; some with talents and others for show. There were demonstrations, prizes, treats, and oodles of fun along with the jog.

Although we hope to attend this year all of our dog friends are staying home. This would, however, be the perfect opportunity (more…)

Salt Water Dogo

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Water used to be all the same to our dog until we introduced her to the beach and salt water. After struggling to stay above water and running in the sand it seemed to our dog the best thing to do was to stop and have a mouthful of refreshing water. Unfortunately, as we all know, salt water is not hydrating.

We attempted to deter our dog from drinking it but once she has her mind set there’s no stopping her. After a few sneezes and gags from the mouthfuls of salt our dog returns to playing in the sand and water.

We make sure her dish is full of (more…)
